Cartagena was a city I was dying to visit after seeing it's colorful doorways and picturesque streets flood my Instagram feed. After spending a few days in Bogotá, my sister and I flew off for this tropical destination. We were more than ready to escape Bogotá's chilly and rainy weather for some sunshine and warmer temperatures. Plus, being the beach bums that we are, we were just excited to be close to a body of water again - especially when it's the Caribbean sea!
We spent our time mainly in the Old Town. There's not particularly a lot to do, but we had a great time wandering down vibrantly colored streets and trying to eat as much ceviche as possible. For great ceviche at a great price, definitely stop by La Cevicheria. If you're looking for a posh night out, try Carmen Cartagena - our meal here was the best we had all trip! Surprisingly, there's also a lot of great gelaterias and pizza places.
To end our stay in Cartagena, we watched a spectacular sunset with new friends at the popular open-air bar, Café del Mar. It was the perfect way to complete our Colombian vacation!
